My Fave Bars for a Healthy Gut

My Fave Bars for a Healthy Gut

BY: /

As a registered dietitian, I'm always looking for more foods I can add into my diet to support a healthy gut. The health of our gut plays a role in almost every other aspect of our wellbeing including digestion, skin health, immune function, brain health and even sleep regulation.

However, it's not always easy to find on-the-go gut friendly food options as so many convenience snacks are filled with artificial and inflammatory ingredients. Thankfully in this post today, I'm going to share with you one of my favorite EASY snacks that's filled with gut friendly ingredients.ย

Zing bars are plant-based protein bars filled with healthy fats and low-glycemic carbs. They have a few extra special ingredients that support a healthy gut too! These bars were created by fellow registered dietitians who are passionate about showing how good nutrition can taste, so this means the ingredients have been vetted and approved by the top experts. This is my #1 recommended bar period, but keep reading below to see why itโ€™s so beneficial for gut health!

6 Gut Friendly Ingredients in Zing Bars:

  1. Tapioca Root Syrup. This is a rich source of prebiotic fiber. Prebiotics feed probiotics, the healthy bacteria in your gut that aid digestion and support optimal immune function.

  2. Fiber. The fiber in these bars comes from hazelnuts, almonds, and cashews. Fiber helps control blood sugar levels and support regular bowel movements.ย

  3. Healthy Fats. This comes from the nuts and nut butter in the bars. These fat sources help with proper nutrient absorption and promote early satiety to help you from overeating.ย

  4. Vitamin E. This vitamin is found in nuts and is a potent antioxidant that reduces inflammation within the body and gut.

  5. Beta-Glucan. This is a type of soluble fiber found in the organic oats in Zing Bars. Beta glucan can improve blood sugar regulation, cholesterol levels, support digestion and keep you feeling fuller for longer.

  6. Almond and Rice Protein. For many people these proteins are easier to digest compared to whey, casein or soy protein, which may result in less bloating.ย

Tackling gut health doesnโ€™t have to be complicated! Switching out your afternoon sweets for a Zing Bar is a great way to start. My favorite Zing Bar flavors are: Dark Chocolate Coconut and Dark Chocolate Mint. If you are looking for an easy way to support your gut health, snacking on Zing Bars is the way to go.ย
